For exam one, pick one of the following essay questions to answer. Use examples from the book to back up your arguments, but do not directly copy the book unless you quote it and cite the quote. You can also use the Internet to answer questions, as long as you do not directly cut and paste or copy the answers. These should be in essay format, with proper citations. The essay should be at least one page, but the more information the better. One paragraph will not be acceptable. Multiple spelling and grammar errors will result in a lower grade. Submit via the Turnitin link labeled below this link. This is due no later than Sept. 19. No late essays will be accepted. Essay Questions: (Pick one) 1. What made the different native populations of the North and South America more or less vulnerable to conquest by the European colonizers? Give examples of different cultures. 2. Spanish conquest in North American brought new people into constant contact. How did the Spanish and the Native Americans interact? How did their perceptions of each other shape their interactions? Give specific examples and consider how these perceptions and interactions changed over time. 3. How did English colonization of the New World compare or contrast with the Spanish conquest of the New World? 4. To what degree did religious intolerance in Europe shape the colonies in the New World? Give specific examples using Spain, France and England.
