IMPORTANT COMPONENTS OF A CULTURAL ASSESSMENT
Ethnic origin. Does the family identify with a particular group (e.g., Chicanos, Puerto Rican, Filipino, Black American, American Indian)?
Race. What is the family’s racial background?
Relocation. Where has the family lived (country, city)?
Has the family moved recently?
values,beliefs Describe habits, customs, values and beliefs the family holds or
practices that affect its attitudes toward

Is time in utero considered as part of the child’s age (for example, is the child considered one year old at birth)?

Healing beliefs. What cultural healing system does the family predominantly adhere to (e.g., Asian healing system, Raza/Latino curanderismo)?
What religious healing system does the family predominantly adhere to (for example, Seventh-Day Adventist, West African Voodoo, Christian Scientist, Fundamentalist Sect, Pentacostalist)?
